UVC is Proven Technology
UVC radiation is a known disinfectant for air, water, and nonporous surfaces. UVC radiation has effectively been used for decades to reduce the spread of bacteria, such as tuberculosis. For this reason, UVC lamps are often called "germicidal" lamps.
UVC radiation has been shown to destroy the outer protein coating of the SARS-Coronavirus. The destruction ultimately leads to inactivation of the virus.
Study Summary
In a virucidal study, the advance UVC technology of the Lightcare Eclipse™ provided a greater than 4 log reduction in the inactivation of human coronavirus at the chin rest of the Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer, which received indirect UVC radiation; areas with direct UVC exposure received greater than 5 log reduction according to the study. This reduction equates to a greater than 99.99% inactivation of the virus.
